Theodore "Ted" Brian Bass

Theodore (Ted) Brian Bass passed away December 12, 2025, at the age of 71, fighting a short battle with lung cancer. Ted is survived by his partner, Doug Renschler; brother, William “Bill” (Penny) Bass; niece, Taralee (Keith) Barnes; nephew, Wade Bass his children Jade Bass (Max Levesque), Owen Bass (Kayla) and their children, Mia Makenzie and Harper Bass. Ted was pre-deceased by his parents, Donald and Margaret Bass.

Ted proudly served our country in the Canadian Navy for 10 years. Followed by a career as a stores man at BATUS CFB Suffield from which he retired. 

He had an incredible love for all God’s creatures. He and Doug raised many different animals on their acreage. Ted was dedicated to rescuing animals with a deep passion for dogs and horses. Ted was an avid horseman and enjoyed riding often. He was a volunteer puppy raiser for PTSD service dogs and active member of the military and first responders.Ted’s care and compassion was incredible. He was also a longtime member of the Medicine Hat Rock and Lapidary Club.

As per Ted’s wishes there will be no service. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in Ted's memory may be made to Horse Heroes Alberta by visiting www.horseheroesalberta.com.
