After a life full of stories, love, and laughter (with a few trials thrown in), Ted Kohlmetz passed peacefully into the Great Beyond at the age of 86.
He leaves behind his daughter, Tina ‘Yushie’ Kohls; sister, Crystal ‘Sadie’ Foster; his granddaughters, Tasha ‘Munchkin’ (Daniel) Johnson and Serena ‘Tutsie’ (Michael) Lux; and too many good friends to name. He goes to join those who have passed before him: his beloved parents; son, Diggy; and the love of his life, Yopie.
He was a man of many talents – writer, artist, gardener, and runner to name a few – and he could often be seen around town going for one of his long walks, often stopping to smell the flowers and singing as he went. As was his way, he would be wearing his iconic denim shorts, even in the deep winter snows. He left his mark on our memories and a hole in our lives that can only be filled by the love that we still feel for him.
You will always be our Dad, Opa, Mr. Ted, Didi, Trail Pappy, Al Terego, and Schatz. We know you are with us still, watching over us as those Guardian Angels watched over you.
In his own words:
“I came, I saw, I failed to conquer but still I came. I always wanted to be totally different, and I succeeded. Now I cross the Rubicon one last time. I go, not raging against the dying of the light, but welcoming it. Resting pen, I shall arise”
Memorial Coffee will be held at the Elks Lodge on Sunday, June 30th from 2-4 pm. All are welcome.
