Stan passed away on June 16th, 2026, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Rita Shimonko; son, Eric (Tianda) Shimonko; daughter, Jennifer Wills; and six grandchildren.
Stan was born and raised in Tisdale, SK where he still has family and friends. He then moved to Edmonton, AB continuing to Kelowna, BC where he met and married Rita. They also lived in Kamloops, BC and then came to Medicine Hat, AB. Stan enjoyed woodworking and medieval live action role-playing (SCA) and camping.
Stan was a very active man and was always on the go. He was a pizza driver for Dominio's Pizza for several years. When he left there, he then spent a lot of time on the computer. He also loved playing with their two dogs. He was also a talented musician, who enjoyed playing the harmonica and mandolin with ease.
Stan will be greatly missed by his many friends here in Medicine Hat where they have spent the last 22 years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
