Robert "Barry" Sim Obituary
Barry Sim passed away on March 22nd, 2025, at the age of 86 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Rob Sim; daughter, Marci Ripper; grandchildren, Olivia Smith, Ashley, Jennesa and Neveah; nieces, Karen and her child, Cody, Shawna and her children, Ashley and Maghan; nephew, Brad and his child, Leslie. Barry was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Sim; brothers, Murray Sim and Roy Sim.
Barry was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He enjoyed travelling to the Yukon and had a gold claim in the 90’s. Barry also loved helping his neighbours and friends, who were very near and dear to his heart, in the community of Hilda, Alberta. Barry’s sobriety started May 11th, 1984, and he recently celebrated his 40th year of sobriety.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a thank-you to the staff at Meadow Ridge and Riverview for the care and compassion shown to Barry through the years. Donations in Barry’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
