Robert (Bob) Werre passed away at AgeCare Riverview on November 5th, 2025, at the age of 85 years. He was the beloved husband of Joyce Werre (Stein). Bob is survived by his son Darrell (Renee) Werre and their children, Oliva, Jared (Hanna) and great granddaughter, Lucy Mae; son, Jeff Werre (Lorri Craipley) and his children, Kennedy (Mason) Antler and Rachel Werre (Logan Terrill). He is also survived by his sister, Frances Nish and her family; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale (Lenora) Stein and their family. Bob was predeceased by his father, Frank Werre and his mother, Lucy (Henry) Renner; as well as father and mother-in-law, Ted and Helen Stein.
Bob was born in Maple Creek, SK and at the age of six, moved to Medicine Hat, AB. After graduating from MHHS, he went on to the DeVry Technical Institute in Toronto, ON. Upon returning to Medicine Hat and after a short time working with AGT/Telus, he was employed by CHAT Television. During his time with CHAT, he enjoyed trips to Las Vegas for the Western Association of Broadcast Engineers conventions. This soon became a favorite destination after which many trips to Pheonix Arizona also included a stop in Las Vegas. After a 40-year career with CHAT, Bob retired in 2005 as Chief Engineer.
Bob enjoyed camping and after 20 years of owning a cabin in Elkwater the cabin was sold and a truck and 5th wheel purchased to explore Alberta and BC where Waterton soon became a favorite. Camping with the grandchildren also created many fond memories. Bob was a devoted family man helping his children and grandchildren whenever possible. He also enjoyed getting out to watch his grandchildren participate in all their sporting events.
Bob had a good sense of humour and had many witty tales to tell. Bob was also a devoted 48-year Medicine Hat Tiger’s season ticket holder.
The family would like to thank the staff at both AgeCare Riverview and Meadow Ridge Seniors Village for their care, compassion and kindness during Bob’s stay.
Honouring Bob’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will be held in the late spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories or SPCA.
