Robert Borgen, beloved husband of Iris Borgen, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 71 years.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Borgen; daughters, Leah Borgen, Jennifer Borgen and Kendra (Talon) Payne; grandchildren, Ryland and Grayson Borgen, Taya and Decker Payne; sisters-in-law, Val Borgen, Myrna Stevens, Shirley (Norm) Mondor, Diane (Dennis) Bloor, Gayle (Gene) Severson, and Lois Bloor; brothers-in-law, Howard (Myrna) Larson, and Calvin Larson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Einar and Violet Borgen; and brother, John Borgen.
Robert lived a life defined by loyalty, he had such a good sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes even if they backfired and he had to laugh at himself. He had a steady warmth that touched everyone around him.
In his younger years, he took on whatever work was needed and took pride in doing a job well. He carried that same work ethic into his long career in oil and gas, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.
He was married to Iris for more than fifty years, loving her with a devotion that never wavered. As a father, he taught the lessons that mattered, and approached parenting with creativity, intention and steadiness. He was playful and fully present with his grandchildren, enjoying their walks, the many talks, the apple pickings, and the imaginative worlds they shared.
Robert had a gift for turning ordinary days into small adventures. His humor and natural ability to connect made friends of strangers, whether he met them in a lineup, on a bench, or while helping a neighbor. He showed compassion through action, offering help without recognition and living with a quiet integrity that guided every part of his life.
He found joy in simple pleasures: time on the water, boating, camping, fishing, scenic drives and tourist destinations. He treasured and took pride in the closeness of the family. His life was shaped by kindness, humor, and honest goodness.
Robert’s legacy lives in the people he loved and in the values he embodies. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will continue to steady and guide his family and friends for years to come.
