In Loving Memory of Richard Scherger, a man who never met a person he didn’t like, passed away peacefully at 7AM on March 14th, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice. Born and raised on the family farm, Richard began working alongside his father at a young age, embodying the values of hard work and dedication that remained with him throughout his life.
On July 18th, 1970, Richard married Violet Brenda Ruff, and together they built a loving home blessed with three children: Kim, Gwen and Aaron (Elisabeth). In 1980, Richard and his family moved back to Leader, where he returned to his roots, farming and enjoying life among dear friends and a close-knit community.
Richard was a man of many talents – a farmer, mechanic, and semi driver – who approached each role with skill and purpose. His deep faith guided his life, and he remained actively involved in the church, serving mass well into his 70’s.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness during Richard’s final days. Their support brought comfort and peace during a challenging time.
Richard’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
A formal service will not be held.
