Pearl Davy Obituary

Pearl Blanche Blum Davy was born Jan 10, 1939, to Verne and Iris Blum in Moose Jaw, Sask. She was the first of their 7 children. She had a wonderful childhood on the ranch in Old Wives with homemade toys, horses and mischief galore. She adored her sister and little brothers and spent many years helping to raise the boys. She became a teacher after high school and was loved by her students. She married Norman J Davy in 1960 and by 1961 started a family of her own. She was busy raising 4 daughters while her military husband spent many years going to sea off and on. The Davy family spent many years moving coast to coast with military assignments and even enjoyed two foreign appointments: Charleston, SC and London, England. Because of this frequent moving, Pearl had friends the world over - she never met a stranger.

Pearl suffered from parathyroid tumors in 2018 and while she did essentially recover after 100 days in the hospital, her mind never did fully recover. After Norm’s death in 2022, she was unable to be without a caregiver and started a tour of care facilities where she continued making friends with residents and staff until she finally was able to pass peacefully surrounded by all four daughters on April 17, 2026, at the age of 87.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Norman Joseph Davy; her parents, Verne and Iris Blum; her sister, Verna Johnson; and a brother, Raymond Blum. Survivors include Deborah Cooper (Mendis) of Overton, NV, Carolyn Nettles (Brent) of Oceanside, CA, Beth Fricke (John) of Murfreesboro, TN and Nadine Orellana (Will) of Sanford, FL. She had 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Pearl leaves behind her brothers, Andy (Kathy), Rick (Jane), Rob (Jan) and Wilf (Laura).

The funeral will be held Saturday May 2 at 1:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (7 Saamis Rotary Way SW, Medicine Hat). For those wishing to attend, a public visitation will be held at the church from 12:00pm – 12:45pm in the Relief Society Room.
