It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Norman Schneider announce his passing on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, at the age of 90 years.
Norman leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 67 years, Phyllis Schneider; his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Steve Phaff; grandsons, Colin (Cheryl) Phaff and Wyatt (Jennifer) Phaff; great grandchildren, Myah and Lawson Phaff; his son, Douglas Schneider; sister, Lillian Pahl; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Norman grew up on the family farm south of Irvine. In 1955, he married Phyllis Lehr and they spent 67 wonderful years together. While working alongside each other, they were wonderful parents to their two children. They were kept very busy running the farm, which included all the tasks and responsibilities associated with farming and raising cattle: sowing and harvesting, cutting hay and baling, milking, raising pigs and chickens. Dad was very meticulous. Along with Phyllis, the farm was always tidy, the buildings painted and fences mended. He always believed it was important to be ready and on time whether it was for work or play.
In 1981, Norman and Phyllis retired to Medicine Hat. For several years he enjoyed playing slow pitch, curling and golfing. During the summers, in addition to taking care of the yard and garden, Norman and Phyllis enjoyed camping and fishing. One of the highlights was taking their two grandsons on annual camping trips. Winter vacations took them on several cruises and many vacations to tropical countries with the entire family joining the fun. These will be memories we will all cherish.
Norman was always a very curious and social person. As the years went by, he enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
We will always remember his kind eyes and warm loving personality. He lived his life in moderation, always positive and always with a smile. Thank you, Dad, for being an inspiration and incredible role model to all of us.
The family will gather privately to honour this amazing man at a later date.
Thank you to the incredible staff at Agecare Riverview for the excellent and loving care during the past few months. You treated Dad with dignity and grace. We cannot begin to express our gratitude.
