Monica Helga Brown

With heavy hearts, the family of Monica Brown announce her passing on December 26, 2025, at Carmel Hospice, St Joseph’s Home at the age of 70 Years.

Monica will be forever loved and remembered by her mother, Eleonore Tessmann; her daughters, Shanna (Chris) Painter and Lorelei (Ron) Sorenson; her grandchildren, Triston, Emberlee, Kali, Chloe and Dallon; her siblings, Harold (Betty) Tessmann, Linda (Greg) Potvin, Robert (Janice) Tessmann and Karen (Brian) Mulder; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.  Monica was predeceased by her father, Adolf Tessmann, and her partner, Steve George.

Although born in Medicine Hat and raised in Redcliff, Monica found her calling not in one place, but the journey between them.  Her fondest memories were of her travel nursing days, when she and Steve explored many different places and met many new friends.  With the arrival of her grandchildren, Monica found her way back to Medicine Hat, making it her new goal to pass on her love of travel and new adventures to them.

The family would like to thank the staff at both the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Center and St. Joseph’s Home for all the support they provided her as they helped her navigate her illness with incredible strength and grace.  A special thank you to her close friend, Donna who provided ongoing friendship and support throughout her journey.

In honouring Monica’s wishes, a formal celebration of life has not been arranged.  We invite you to celebrate your memories of Monica in your own special way. If you wish you could consider a donation to Margery E. Yuill Cancer Center or AJ’s Loan Cupboard in memory of Monica Brown.
