Mervin passed away unexpectedly at River Ridge Seniors Village on October 20, 2025, at the age of 76 years.
He was born in Russell, Manitoba on January 1, 1949, to Bill and Lucy Chuckree.
After graduating from Grade 12, he moved to Thompson and worked in the nickel mine for 7 years. He moved to Medicine Hat in 1974 and found a job driving for BFI; accident free for 32 years.
As a single parent, he worked hard to raise his daughter, Mandy. He loved to play cards with his family and friends, gardening, and watching hockey and football.
Mervin was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 53 years, honouring his father who was a WW2 veteran.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bill (2002) and Lucy (2017); and sister, Rose Marie Daniels in (2022).
Mervin will be sadly missed by his daughter, Mandy; granddaughters, Cassandra and Nickole; great granddaughter, Emelia; sister, Emily (Jim) Harris, Carol (Allan) Smusiak; brother, Brian; nephews, Norman La Coste, Neal and Lyndon Harris; and niece, Amy Daniels.
He enjoyed these last four months at River Ridge where he lived.
We thank all the staff at River Ridge for their care in making Mervin welcome and cared for.
