Maxine Theresa Read

Maxine “Max” Read passed away at St. Joseph’s in Medicine Hat on Friday, April 22, 2022, at the age of 65 years. Maxine is survived by her sons, Caleb and Jack Read as well as grandson, Theodore Read. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharron (Dave) Campbell of Cowichan BC, Paulette Fitzgerald of Duncan BC, Colleen (Don) Ward of Saskatoon, SK, and brother, John Fitzgerald of Saskatoon, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Anne and Frank Fitzgerald of Saskatoon, SK; and her sister, Angela Fitzgerald of Saskatoon, SK. Maxine grew up in Saskatoon playing with her loving sisters and eventually made her way to Redcliff, AB. Here, she met her husband, Joe Read and together they moved to their cozy home down beside the South Saskatchewan River with their first-born, Caleb. Their next son, Jack would enter the world 7 years later to complete the little family. She enjoyed exploring the river valley with her children, family and friends. She enjoyed the valley lifestyle as she expanded her garden. Maxine also enjoyed drawing, painting and even marketed and sold some of her creations. She enjoyed her role as a rural school bus driver for many years becoming friends with so many of the country kids. Maxine loved her friends dearly, their connections: unbreakable. Maxine will be remembered as a caring, compassionate soul who always managed to put others first. A good deed directed towards the less fortunate is the best way to honour Maxine. Her life will be quietly remembered by her family and friends without the proceedings of a formal service. An informal memorial gathering will be held at the Redcliff Baden Powell Center 6-9pm on May 7th, 2022. If weather permits, afterwards will be a Memorial Bonfire Party at 302 - 4th St SW in Redcliff, anyone is welcome to join.
