Margaret "Elaine" Springer

Margaret “Elaine” Springer passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 19th. She was predeceased by her husband, Mervin; parents, Stan and Margaret Breese; sister, Norma Whidden; brother, Vern; nephews, Vern Whidden, Gerry Breese and Dale Breese; granddaughter, Amber Benoit. Left to mourn her passing her children, Jack (Claire), Sandi (Brent), Gary, Bruce (Blanca) and Sue (Dwayne); 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rita Springer; nephews, Glen Whidden and Dan Breese.

As a teenager, born in Saskatoon, Elaine became very involved in fastball. She played with the U of S women’s basketball and volleyball teams.

Elaine accepted a summer job in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. It was there that she met the love of her life, Merv. Her focus then became to be a loving wife, homemaker and caring parent.

After entering the workforce, Elaine enjoyed working for T. Eaton Company, Weyburn City Hall, Canada Pension Plan and then retiring as acting supervisor. Once retired, Merv and Elaine enjoyed many years of travelling. In 2002, they moved to Medicine Hat to be closer to family.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers who aided in any way in Elaine’s final years.

As per Elaine’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
