Louise Rose Enns

Louise Rose Enns passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 68. In 2016, Louise was diagnosed with Alpha-1, a genetic lung disease, and in 2023, with terminal brain cancer. True to her fighting spirit, she far outlived every prognosis.

Louise was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, the daughter of John (predeceased) and Diana Smale. She loved animals, baking, crosswords, music, sports, and the mountains. Louise was determined, resilient, and approached life wholeheartedly. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted follower of Jesus.

Louise kept an immaculate home and always had baked treats on hand for visitors. She treasured summers with family and friends at the cabin and spent many happy years in a bowling league. Throughout her life, she enjoyed travelling and seeking new adventures.

She had various jobs before working her way up to retail store manager, a role she held for many years. When her mother urged her to stay home and play it safe after her Alpha-1 diagnosis, Louise had other plans. She was determined to make the most of every day.

When Louise married John Enns in 2008, she found the man she called “my protector, my rock.” With him she gained a second family she embraced as her own. Louise delighted in every chance to bake for them, cheer them on, and gather for meals.

She made countless memories with her grandchildren through baking, swimming, pierogi making, trips to the park, movie nights, sleepovers, and walks with the dog. She was fiercely loyal to the people she adored and immensely proud of her children and grandchildren.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Diana; her husband, John; her children, Nichol (Jeff), Travis (Kara), Rachelle (Michael), Curtis (Charla), and Derek (Amber); her grandchildren, Tobias, Samantha (Chase), Douney (Tyler), Zakai, Leila, Mariyah, Micah, Madelyn, Noah, Levi, Cam, and Summer; her nephews, Curtis, Colby, and Jeffery; her brother-in-law, Daryl; and by all family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, John, and her sister, Loretta. Louise made everyone feel like family and was loved by many.

On her final day, Louise was asked if she was proud of the life she had lived. Without hesitation, she answered, “I am.”

In lieu of flowers, Louise asked that donations be made to Tails of Help at Cypress Vets.

A celebration of Louise’s life was held privately with close family.
