Louise Crosson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Louise Anastasia Balaux, later known as Louise Anastasia Crosson, who passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on September 13, 1927, in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Louise was raised in a large family of thirteen siblings which shaped her warmth, resilience, and grounded spirit.

In 1944, while working at the hospital in Willow Bunch, Louise met her first husband, Leo Gaudry. They married later that year and began their life together on a farm near St. Victor. In 1946, they moved to Assiniboia, where they welcomed five children: Larry, Richard, Sue, Ron, and Don. Louise embraced motherhood wholeheartedly, creating a loving and nurturing home.

In 1953, Louise endured the heartbreaking loss of her husband Leo to pneumonia, leaving her to care for five young children on her own. With remarkable strength and determination, she carried her family through this very difficult time. She planted large gardens, canned and preserved food, and skillfully sewed clothing for her children. Her resourcefulness and unwavering love were the backbone of her young family.

In 1956, Louise married David Crosson, and together they welcomed five more children: Randy, Joseph, Marlene, Dale, and Sandra. They lived in Assiniboia until 1988, when they built a new home on an acreage at Regina Beach, where they retired. In 1998, they moved to Medicine Hat. Her family of ten children was the pride of her life, and she remained a devoted mother throughout all her years.

Louise was predeceased by her son, Joseph; her parents, Rose and Louis Balaux; her sisters, Aurelie, Evelyn, Ghislaine, Noella, Jeanne, Lorraine, Julie, and Marie; and her brothers, Gilles, Dave, and Andre. She is survived by her brothers, Marcel and Guy; as well as nine of her children who continue to honour her memory. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a part of her remarkable spirit.

Louise will be remembered for her quiet courage, her deep devotion to family, and her extraordinary capacity for care. Whether through the meals she preserved, the clothes she sewed, or the gentle guidance she offered, she filled the lives of those around her with love, stability, and kindness. Her legacy is one of strength, generosity, and a life grounded in the enduring love of her family.

Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2026, with details to be announced at a later date.
