Kenneth Pemberton Obituary

“…I trust in you, Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times are in your hands…Let your face shine on your servant…” Psalm 31: 14-16

Kenneth (Ken) Albert Pemberton unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 14, at the age of 86.  He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Sylvia on April 3, 2022.  Ken is lovingly remembered by his four children: Cynthia (David) Hall of Medicine Hat, Terri Lynn (Peter) Blanchard of Ellershouse, Nova Scotia, Kelli McIsaac of Kingston, Ontario, Craig (Lorna) Pemberton of Medicine Hat, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

Ken and Sylvia were married on October 27, 1956 in Martock, Nova Scotia.  They lived in the Bedford and the Windsor areas, in Nova Scotia where their children were born and raised.  Here, they developed many life-long friendships that continued even after their move “out west”.  In 1980, they moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta for a “change” in life.  This new home became one they loved.  On arrival to the Hat, they attended Heights Baptist Church where they found many new friends that became a great blessing to them.

During his life, Ken worked for the Department of Defense as a civilian in both Nova Scotia and Alberta.  He also worked for the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for many years where he became well known.  His face even graced local city buses for a season, as a face for Alberta Health Care workers.  Being a modest man, he did not really love having his image paraded around the streets of Medicine Hat.

Ken had a deep love and commitment to his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  He faithfully served in his church and lovingly prayed for his family and friends.  As the family recently gathered to celebrate the life of his dear wife, Ken shared with each of his children and grandchildren, the motivation of his life – “as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date.
