Joy Thomson, beloved wife of Carman Thomson, passed away on Monday, October 7th, at the age of 85 years. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Joy met Carman at Nutana Collegiate and they were married May 3rd, 1958. Leaving Saskatoon, they moved to Regina and then home to Medicine Hat.
Carman and Joy settled into life in Medicine Hat and met many lifelong friends after joining Kinsmen and Kinettes. Teaching piano, gardening, being a skilled seamstress and forever renovating their home kept her busy. Carman and Joy enjoyed travelling and were fortunate to have visited many great parts of the world. Winter trips to Phoenix to see Karen and Penge Semrau was always a highlight. Joy loved volunteering at the Esplanade, she met many wonderful friends and was very proud of her “work”.
Joy leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Carman; children, Patti (Larry) Jarvis and their children, Jenni (Jeff) Fraser, Jeff (Nicole) Jarvis, Scott (Morgan) Jarvis; Kara Mock and her children, Don (McKenzie) Mock, Katie (Spencer) Skinner; Mike (Margaret) Thomson and their children, Tyson and Cameron Thomson. She also had beloved great grandchildren, Stella and Kade, Gage and Parker, and Carmen. Joy was predeceased by her son, Don. She will be forever loved and missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in Joy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
