James Harris passed away peacefully December 14th, 2025, at St. Joseph’s in Medicine Hat. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Emily; sons, Neal and Lyndon; sisters, Judith, Marilyn (Errol) and Catherine (Matthew); along with nieces and nephews.
James was born in Winnipeg to Verna and Gordon Harris on November 24th, 1944. He spent time in Toronto and Regina before moving back to Winnipeg. He got his B.sc in Biology and Education at t e U of M. He moved to Russell, MB and was a respected biology and science teacher for 31 years.
During his lifetime he was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He farmed for 12 years as well as taught high school.
James also enjoyed travelling with his family. He took multiple trips across Canada and the United States. He continued to travel until he was unable to.
Our thanks to the Medicine Hat Hospital and St. Joseph’s for taking care of Dad in his final days.
As per his wishes, there will be no memorial service. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Root Cellar or a charity of one’s choice.
