Harry Lehr peacefully passed away at the Meadow Ridge Retirement home on August 17th, 2021, at the age of 96.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Urban; stepfather, Frank Urban; son, Melvin Lehr; sister, Alice (Reuben) Meier; brother, Art (Peggy) Lehr.
Left to remember him, his children, Dave (Linda) Lehr, Bev (Don) Luker, Audrey Lehr, Don (Ann Marie) Lehr, Gerald (Toni) Lehr, Cathy Boegal; his partner, Lolita Adams; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Harry was born and raised in Medicine Hat. At age 17, he joined the Merchant Navy.
In 1950, he was married in Vancouver. At that time, he became a commercial fisherman and fished off the coast of Bella Coola. In 1963 the family moved out to Bassano, AB where he built the Midway Motel. When he retired, he moved back to the coast and then returned to Medicine Hat where he spent his final years.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at a later date.
