Gerry Allan Peters of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 12th, 2026, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 78 years. He was born on February 18th, 1948, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to George and Bertha Peters. Gerry grew up in Moose Jaw and after high school, he completed his Sheet Metal and Plumbing trade certification. He settled in Medicine Hat where he established Peters Plumbing & Sheet Metal Ltd., proudly serving Medicine Hat and the surrounding community for decades – a business that is still going strong today!
Gerry loved hitting the golf course and had a passion for dirt bikes and hill climbing. His friends gave him the nickname, “Crazy Man” because he rode without fear.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents, George and Bertha Peters; brothers, John and Elmer Peters; one niece; two nephews; his beloved dog and trusty plumbing sidekick, Corky.
Gerry is survived by his children, Allison (James) Shulson, Michael (Andrea) Peters; grandchildren: Amber (Jarret) Downey and their children, Emery and Henry; Colen (Rylee) Shulson and their children, Sawyer and Grayson; Sidney (Jaxon) Gamez and their son, Theodore; Justin (Brandie) Peters and their children, Jackson, Joseph and Lily; Joshua Peters and Jacob Peters; siblings, Daniel (Leslie) Peters, Polly (Harold) Kvaale; sisters-in-law, Marlene Peters and Bernice Peters; four nieces and two nephews.
At Gerry’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, family and friends are invited to gather for a come and go to share fond memories at the Hockey Hounds Social Room (39 10th St NE) on August 8th, 2026, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
