It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Douglas Hill is announcing his passing. He died peacefully in Medicine Hat on May 25th, 2021, with his family by his side.
Born in July of 39, Gary was raised with his siblings on the family farm in Spalding, Saskatchewan. Shortly after his father’s death, he joined the air force and eventually found his way to Flin Flon, Manitoba. It was there where he met his future bride, Enid Kolke, and for the next 50 plus years they made a life together.
After retiring from the Electrical department at HBMS, Gary and Enid made the move to Medicine Hat to be closer to family. Despite his failing health, Gary enjoyed time with his family, driving his scooter with his brother, having weekly lunches with his friends and playing sudoku.
Gary is predeceased by his parents, Georgina and James Hill; brothers, James, William; sisters, Mildred and Maggie. He is survived by his wife, Enid Hill; children, Robert, Robin (Dave), Carl (Mihaela); grandchildren, Alexander, Andrea, Zander, Reid, Brendan, James, and Jordan. He is also survived by his younger brother, Donald.
A private memorial service will be held by the family in Medicine Hat.
People wishing to honour Gary’s memory are asked to make a contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
