Garry John Emiel Carter

Garry Carter passed away on May 12th, 2023, at the age of 79 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Willemine Carter; sons, Darryl (Colleen) Carter and Dave Carter; daughter, Shelley Anne Halbgwachs; grandchildren, Johnathan Halbgwachs and Jessica Halbgwachs; special cousin, Betty Wamsteeker; 1 neice; 2 nephews and numerous cousins. Garry was predeceased by his parents, John and Henrietta Carter; brother, Arthur Carter.

Garry was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and took a course to become an Auto Body Mechanic Apprentice. Garry drove for Calgary transit for 12 years and moved to Brooks in 1976 where he worked for the CO-OP and attended college to upgrade his education. Garry worked for the town of Brooks for 22 years in public works until retirement. Garry, with his family, also did custodial work for numerous businesses in Brooks.

Garry enjoyed walking, hunting, fishing, reading the Bible and wood working. He had a good sense of humour and was very handy around the house.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19th, 2023, at Brooks United Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Esther Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Brooks Cemetery.
