It is with deep sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother Frances (Fahey)McInnis, age 79, who passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Sydney Mines, Frances was the beloved daughter of the late Muriel and Patrick Fahey.
Frances was best known for her kindness to everyone, her big heart and of course having a smile and a “Hi!" to everyone she met. Her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her love, big heart, humour and resilience will live on in the stories shared that we call “Franisms” and treasured memories.
She will be forever missed by her daughter, Lurena(Glenn Stenhouse); son, Steven Scott (Faye); her grandchildren, Riley( Shayla), Bretonnie, Matthew (Jessica), Brittany (Zavi), Madison; great grandchildren, Memphis & Liliann.
Also her sisters, Laura Chaisson - New Waterford, Rita (Alan Found) Berwick & Ann (Michael Ley) Louisbourg. Her sisters will dearly miss her daily phone calls just to check in and see how they were doing even if there was nothing new to report.
Also left to miss her are her sisters-in-law, Keitha Fahey, Sarah Ann Fahey, and Joanne Fahey; as well as many nieces and nephews that loved “crazy Aunt Francie”.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her daughters, Tanya & Marie (in infancy); her husband, Reid Tait; her brothers, Billy, Lennie, Patrick, Lewis, Gerard & Michael; her sisters, Alice & Ella, who we know welcomed her home with open arms.
Finally you can dance again with Pops. We will miss you Ma❤️
As per Frances’ wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date in Cape Breton.
