Evelyn Daniels passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2025, at the age of 90 years. She leaves to cherish her children, Roxanne (Walter) Willford, Wendy (Mathew) Kimball and Curtis (Marge); daughter-in-law, Donalyn (Brian) Hotrum; grandchildren, Marlyssa, Jeradan (Jillana), Joshua (Kim), Denalyn, Danielle, Marcy, Cortlin (Megan) and their children, Liam and Felix, Jaxon (Brittany), Kayla (Mac) and Maria (Daniel); sister-in-law, Betty White. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Jerry; son, Dallas; her birth parents, Rudolph and Fannie White, and parents Bert and Virgie Guenther.
Evie was born in Plentywood, Montana on March 2, 1935. About two months later her mother passed away and so 2 other siblings and her were raised with other families. Evie went to live with the Guenther family and was raised in a very loving and caring family. She was also able to keep in contact with her birth family and had a good relationship with all of her siblings until their passing. Evie graduated from High School and then came to Saskatchewan and attended International Bible College where she met Jerold Daniels and they were married June 27th, 1957.
After they were married, they went into the ministry and pastored in Heward, Maple Creek, and Estevan, SK, Medicine Hat, AB, Winnipeg, MB, Moosomin, and Oxbow, SK. Then they returned to Medicine Hat to retire. Mom played the piano, (and accordion) and mom and dad sang many duets together. She was also involved in teaching Sunday School; Vacation Bible School and they attended Youth Camps and Family camps being involved in a variety of capacities. Mom became busier with the arrival of her children and enjoyed being a mother and watching her children grow and develop. Then as her children married and added grandchildren to the family, she looked forward to every opportunity to see them. The cream on top was when she became a GGma to Liam and Felix. They brought many smiles.
Besides all of her ministry responsibilities, mom enjoyed cooking and baking. Their home was always a place of hospitality. Whether it was neighbours in for coffee, family celebrations or overnight guests. A variety of other interests were reading, sewing, knitting, crafts, doing jigsaw puzzles, taking pictures with a camera and later her cell phone.
She loved camping with the family and later, her and Jerry camped many summers together. They loved to travel and one of her favorite trips was to South Africa. They also had traveled on a tour bus to the East Coast. Yearly trips were made to family members in the states and in Canada.
Mom and dad met many friends along the way and mom enjoyed reaching out to them through the postal services and then emails and finally Facebook. Mom enjoyed being able to navigate her way around the computer or her cell phone right up to the last month.
Evie’s family was very important to her. She loved visits and keeping in touch with her immediate family and extended family. Her favorite friend was Jesus who she asked to be her Saviour in 1944. She was looking forward to being with Him in heaven and having her family and friends join her.
The family would like to thank Masterpiece Southland, MHRH, and St. Joseph's Home for the loving care and kindness shown to mom and our family.
