Emile Louis Pelchat passed away Thursday, January 19th, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; sister, Gay; son, Dean; daughter, Terri (Morgan) Smedley; sons, Sherwin (Destiny), Tim (Donna) Yamazaki; grandchildren, Kanisha and Cassandra Smedley, McKenzie and Madison Pelchat, Michael and Dylan Parsons, Vanessa and Brandon Yamazaki; his brother-in-law, Peter Barth and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Aurore Pelchat; his brothers, Onill, Gerard, Harve and Paul; his sisters, Jeannette Sereda, Cecile Bonneville, Theresa Johnson, Noella Hillerud and Lillian Barth.
Emile married Joyce Daniels May 4th, 1957. They started their married life in Stettler, AB and moved numerous times while Emile worked as a farm laborer, truck driver, bus driver and various other jobs. They moved back to Medicine Hat in 1972 where they remained.
For a farm boy with only a grade 9 education, Emile felt one his greatest achievements was graduating from International Bible College in 1977. At the age of 44, he was the oldest in his class but that didn’t stop him from being in a quartet and singing in the choir.
His grandchildren lit up his world and he loved them with all his heart. Spending any free time he had to be in their lives whenever the opportunity and adventures would present themselves. His recent years weren’t the best but our memories will be of the good times and the laughter he brought to our lives.
We love you forever and ever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 1st, 2023 @ 2:30pm at Chinook Village with a luncheon to follow.
