Darlene Mary Teft

Darlene passed away on May 29th, 2022, at the age of 68 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Matthew Winchester; son, Trent Teft; grandchildren, Logan Teft, Tatjana Gonsalves, Ian Gonsalves and Blake Gonsalves; sisters, Marlene Harris (Gary Bodard) and Dianne Tessman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anne Schmaltz; daughter, Carol Lynn Teft.

Darlene was born in Wilkie, Sask and grew up in Redcliff. She worked at Redcliff Greenhouses for 28 years as a Flower Designer and 17 years at BATU Suffield in the QM Department where she met her soul mate, Matt or as she lovingly called him, “Baby”. Growing up, Darlene was very athletic and was on most of the sports teams in school. Darlene was a very supportive mom, spending hours at the rink with Carol (figure skating) and Trent (hockey and taekwondo). She loved her solitude, moving away from the “Big City” life in Medicine Hat to Suffield. Although she was a prairie girl, her dream was to move to the mountains and while working at BATUS, the opportunity for her and Matt to temporarily move to Cochrane/Trails End Camp for 2 ½ years fulfilled that wish. Darlene was easy going, made friend effortlessly with her grin and chuckle, but was never a push over. She loved to play the “slots” and was usually lucky, winning several large pots. After her retirement, she would start her morning drinking coffee, playing games on the computer and of course watching her soap operas. Darlene will be sadly missed by her family and friends. As per Darlene’s wishes, there will be a small family gathering at a later date. Darlene loved her puppies, Harley and Luke, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
