Dale Elliott Obituary

Dale Virgil Elliot was born to Glen and Verna Elliott on March 17th, 1959, in Medicine Hat. Predeceased by his father, Genn in 2022 and brother, Stan in 2025. Dale came into this world as what his mother referred to as a “Blue Baby” and had to be cooled down in an ice bath. If Blue Baby Syndrome was a lack of oxygen to the brain effecting your “smarts”, it was not Dale! At an early age he read the whole Encyclopedia Brittanica A to Z, just for fun!

Dale was a numbers man. He embraced numbers and math which took him to Medicine Hat College then on to the U of A to take Chemical Engineering. Unfortunately, his education in chemical engineering did not get him the desirable “big bucks” and he came back to embrace the ranch life. That ranch life became a 50 year plus legacy that has made Waterview Red Angus. Dale took his “numbers” knowledge to a different level. Instead of remembering chemical compositions he was remembering tag numbers, registration numbers, index numbers, breeding records, pedigrees, and anything herd related. He was our Cattlemax program without a computer or the internet! Dale embraced our cattle herd and had a photographic memory for the information.

Later in life as his siblings got older, they wouldn’t play cards with him as he could count cards! Trivial Pursuit was impossible to win as reading al those encyclopedias stuck with him! We should have taken him to Vegas!

Dale took on his diagnosis of cancer 2 years ago like a rock star! Although the operations and treatments did not have the outcome that any of us wanted, he fought a battle. Dale was a quiet individual and will be sadly missed by a great many people. His Dart family, his Pool family, and before health issues, his slo-pitch family. All the people in his life gave him joy and a life fulfillment even if he was quiet and didn’t show it.

He will be sadly missed by his surviving family. Mother Verna; sister, Pam (Donnie) their children Kimberlee, Kyle (Joelle), and Kurtis; brothers, Wayne (Roxanne), Terry (Shirley) their children Wyatt (Jaqueline) and the apples of Great Uncle’s eyes Katie and Kristin, Jurnee (Steven), Tate, Sydney (Colin); nephew, Shawn Schneyderberg; uncle, Harold Miller (Cecile); auntie, Judy Loran (Gerald); uncle, Donald Elliott; as well as numerous cousins.

Hug your family, enjoy your friendships, play a game of darts or pool, hoist a beer or rum and remember the person Dale was.

A visitation will be held at Grace Memorial on Sunday, May 24th, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dale’s memory be made to a charity of one’s choice.
