Clifford Dupuis Obituary

Clifford Wayne Dupuis, aged 75, passed away peacefully on December 30th at his home in Medicine Hat, Alberta. His sons and loved ones had a final toast in his honor and held him as he passed.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Arthur and Doris Dupuis and siblings, Yvonne, Gilbert, Dennis and Susan. Dad especially enjoyed a last visit with his brother, Albert and wife, Pauline when they visited him in Medicine Hat.

Cliff was born in Ottawa and was a lifelong fisherman, lover of garage sales and good deals. His sons teased him frequently about his extensive collection of rods, reels, lures, nets, boats etc. Dad loved chatting with people and learning about how things get done. A Canadian flag flew proudly on every house he owned.

Cliff loved and missed his wife, Elizabeth of 43 years who predeceased him in 2011. He is survived by his loving partner, Carolyn Stogre of Brooks, who drove every week to stay and care for him. His boys are very grateful for her love and devotion.

Cliff was the best Dad to his four boys, Jordan (Michelle) and Ryan Dupuis of Nelson, B.C., Evan Dupuis of Vancouver and Reid Dupuis. He was an awesome Grandfather to Ryland, Rhianne, Kaden, Beckett and Piper Dupuis who were fortunate to have his love.

His boys remember a great childhood outdoors filled with fishing, exploring and helping with a number and variety of projects that would make your head spin. Boats were sanded, seaweed was gathered and hauled, garages and sheds were moved, barns were demolished. It was awesome. Dad was always there for us and we were lucky to have one last Christmas together.

Cliff is survived by his big brother, Albert (Pauline) Dupuis, Diane Davis, Jacky Lasalle all of the Ottawa area. Cliff was from a family of 9 kids.

Much appreciation to family friends Rena, Glenn, Riley and Bretonnie Stenhouse. Rena, your loving reassurance when you accompanied Dad to his many appointments or sat with him at the house are deeply appreciated.  He considered you a daughter.

Dad will miss friends, Andre and Lynda Valliere of Manitouwadge, Ontario where Mom and Dad spent their summers living a peaceful life when not wintering in Florida. Dad enjoyed many backwoods adventures with Andre and deeply appreciated Lynda's support at the time of Elizabeth's passing.

Dad was a hard worker who enjoyed a successful 33-year career with the Public Service of Canada.

His first position was as a Clerk at the National Harbours Board in Ottawa. From there to Records Supervisor at the National Energy Board. Then, Records Office Supervisor - Department of Insurance at the Ministry of Finance.

A move to Prince Edward Island found him in the position of Custodian of Title Documents and Records Office manager -Veterans Land Administration. Administration Officer Bureau of Pension Advocates was next.

Guelph Ontario was next where Cliff was Administration Officer at the Health of Animals Laboratory of Agriculture Canada.

Then on to Animal Diseases Research Institute - Administration Officer in Lethbridge Alberta. Next he was Director of Administration at Defense Research Establishment (DRDC) at Suffield.

33 plus years later Dad retired from his position at National Defense Headquarters Director of Operational Research and Analysis Support in Ottawa, back where it all started with him as a Messenger with a high school education on Parliament Hill.

Rest in Peace Old Man, we are going to miss you dearly.
