Arthur "Art" Schlenker

Art Schlenker passed away on May 16th, at the age of 87 years. He leaves to cherish the memory his partner and best friend of 62 years, Bernice Schlenker; children, Nancy Schwartz, Tom Schlenker and Rob (Corinne) Schlenker; grandchildren, Christopher (Paige) Schlenker and Carter Schlenker; great grandchild, Porter Schlenker; siblings, Jake (Hilma) Schlenker and Gerda Schlenker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elsa Schlenker; brother, Helmut Schlenker; and son-in-law, Russ Schwartz. 

Art was born in Sofiewka, Romania and immigrated from Germany to Medicine Hat in 1957, at the age of 20. Art enjoyed gardening, fishing, and travelling, plus a good homemade meal with his family and friends. Art’s passion was building homes, furniture or whatever else was needed around the house. 

Art and Bernice married in 1963 and started raising their family in Medicine Hat. They lived in various homes, until they decided it was time to build their first home together with more beautiful homes to follow. Art always took pride in his work, loved his family and will be missed. 

No formal service will be held.
