Arnold Kuystermans Obituary

Arnold William Kuystermans passed away, surrounded by loving family, on March12, 2024 at the age of 62. Arnold was born to William and Martha Kuystermans on August 16,1961, along with his twin brother Alex, in Eastend, Saskatchewan.

Arnold grew up in Eastend in a full household of 8 brothers and one sister. He attended school in Eastend, graduating in 1979. Arnold was a lifelong learner – early on he attended Lethbridge Community College, where he studied automotive; and Medicine Hat College, where he studied, apprenticed and got his red seal autobody journeyman credentials. Then later he attended Medicine Hat College for 4th class power engineering. Arn also worked hard and balanced family life to study in Calgary to get his real estate license.

Arnold has lived and worked predominately in the Medicine Hat area most of his adult life. He was a hard worker and was willing to take on a challenge – when he worked at the bean plant right out of school, he would sling around sacks of beans that were almost as heavy as he was. He worked as a labourer, carpenter, an autobody man, and for many years, as a respected realtor in the city of Medicine Hat.

Arn could fix anything!! And could be counted on to lend a hand to anyone that needed help and was always full of life and laughter. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. In his usual sharing way, he shared this passion with Denver, Marshall and Jordyn, family and friends. You could often find Arnold at the Forks or other interesting spot fishing and camping with his family and/or his brothers.

Arn and Yo enjoyed entertaining and were the ultimate hosts. No little detail overlooked – Arn would even wash your car or change your oil when you went to visit.

Arnold married the love of his life, Yolande Lemire on June 24,1989 and together they had 3 children.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Yo, 2 sons, Denver and Marshall (Barby), one daughter, Jordyn (Daniel), and 2 grandchildren - Jake and a brand new granddaughter, Aurora, born the day before he  passed. Also left to cherish memories of a their dear brother are Neil (Lana), Jack (Sherry), Alex (Penny), Bill, Michael (Sharon) and one sister Mary Lemire (Bob).Yolande’s sisters and brothers also share their grief in his passing - Bob Lemire (Mary), Bernie (Karen) Lemire, Roberta (Roy) Wheeler, Corrinne (Ken) Hassett, Marc (Jackie) Lemire, Jeff Hyam, Bernice Lemire, Rochelle (Charlie) Christie, and his mother in law, Marguerite Lemire. Uncle Arn (one of the favourite uncles) will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, including the hybrid/double ups Also left to mourn Arnold are numerous cousins in the Netherlands.

Arnold was pre deceased by his brother Peter in 1968, his father, William in 2004, his mother Martha in 2006 and his brother Stephen in 2016. On the Lemire side, he was predeceased by his father in law, Robert Lemire in 1995, his sister in law Cathy Hyam in 2010, and brother in law  Denis Lemire in 2014 .

At Arnold’s request, there will be a Celebration of Life on April 20th, 2024 at Hampton Inn & Suites, 2510 Box Springs Blvd NW. 1:30-3:00. Lunch will be served at the Heritage Pavilion in Strathcona Park, 1402 5th street SE @ 4:00
