Annemarie passed away on September 23rd, 2021, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 59 years with her daughters present. She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers and sisters, Jim (Patti) McPike, Marianne (Gene) Rowland, Christine (Bob) Verner, Alex (Robyne Rosenberger) McPike, Margaret (Craig Jones) McPike, Kathleen (Ken) Beierbach; daughters, Bethany Derheim and Danika (Trevor) Knightly; grandchild, Scarlett Knightly; and father of Bethany and Danika, Gary Derheim; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Annemarie was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Anna Marie McPike; brother, Francis McPike.

Annemarie was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and raised in Saskatoon, Sask. and inMedicine Hat, Alberta. From the time Annemarie was born until the end of her life she was faced with trials of many kinds. With odds being stacked against her she courageously endured medical, spiritual, and physical adversity, all the while insisting she would be alright and worried more about her loved ones.

Annemarie was a very loving, sensitive, sympathetic and kind-hearted soul. The love she had for her daughters and granddaughter was immeasurable. She was always eager to hear about family news and loved being included in what was happening in the lives of her family and friends. She would listen intently and would give honest advice that came from a place of love and understanding. Her daughters especially valued being able to openly talk with her. Even though throughout her life her faith wavered and she was continuously tested, God would always bring her back to the right path. Her perseverance was an inspiration to her family and friends. You may now finally have peace. You have touched many with the light of your soul and you will never be forgotten, Mom. We will love and cherish your memory forever.

A funeral service will be held at Heights Baptist Church on Friday, October 1st, 2021, at 2pm with Geoff Heidebrecht officiating. An interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in Annemarie’s memory may be made to Danika & Trevor Knightly for the future of Annemarie’s beloved granddaughter, Scarlett Knightly, or to the Red Cross.
